10 Indoor Activities for Energetic Kids

Check out these great indoor activities for kids to burn off extra energy!

Sometimes we can’t get out of the house enough for our kids to burn off all their energy. Maybe a sibling is sick or a class is canceled or the weather isn’t cooperating, but some days we just need ways for our hyper kiddos to run around without tearing the house apart.

10 indoor physical activities for energetic kids

My kids often seem to have never-ending energy. Even after a day at the beach and swim class or jiu-jitsu, they’ll still come home and literally run laps around our living room and kitchen.

So if you have energetic kids, too, here are some of my favorite indoor products to help give those hyperactive kids an outlet.

1. Trampoline

Many, many, many hours have been spent on our small trampoline! It’s always a popular option for not only my kids, but also any friend who come over, too! Check it out here!

2. Stationary Bike for Kids

My kids have spent their fair share of time on a stationary bike when they have excess energy at the end of the day. They make up some adventure to go on and the bike becomes their rocket ship or bus or whatever they need, haha. The one shown here can connect to a tablet or the TV to create an immersive biking experience, or there’s always the regular stationary bikes where your kids can just use their imagination. Check them out on Amazon!

3. Monkey Bars

My parents set up these at home monkey bars in their basement for the grandkids to play on when they visit, and they are SUCH A HIT! All the kids love climbing all over the dome and using it to make tents, too. Check it out here!

4. Pop Up Tents and Tunnels

I don’t know what it is about tunnels, but kids just don’t get tired of them! You don’t have to send your kids to the germy tunnels at fast-food restaurants when it’s too cold/wet to go to the park– instead just pop up your own! This one even has a place for a ball pit, but do note that the balls are sold separately. Check it out here!

5. Toss and Catch Game

This one is surprisingly fun! My girls got a toss and catch game as a gift a while back and once you start playing, it’s really hard to stop, haha! Check it out here!

6. Indoor Swinging Gym

Your kids will love this at-home play gym! All you need to set it up is a doorway– no drilling required! Check it out here!

7. Foam Pogo Jumper

This foam jumper another one that my kids (and their friends) have consistently gone back to when they’re feeling a little too energetic. Just a heads up, it does squeak when they jump on it. So with your sanity in mind, I recommend removing the squeakers (they’re easy to take out) before giving it to your children. 😉 Check it out here!

8. Balance Stepping Stones

I honestly can’t tell you why kids love these balance stepping stones so much, but they do, haha! My kids and their friends use these over and over for years! Check them out here!

9. Seesaw Rider

This single person seesaw rider is tons of fun and perfect for kids who may not always have a reliable teeter-totter partner. If a two-person at home seesaw is a better fit for your family, they make those, too! Check them out here!

10. Kid-Friendly Work Out Videos

And when all else fails, use your kids’ love of screens for good and look up some fun exercise videos for kids! Cosmic Yoga is always a fun choice (she tells the kids story while teaching them yoga), but there are lots of options to choose from. Check some out here!

So which of these indoor activities for kids would your little ones like best? Let me know in the comments!
